Children's Sports Leagues
Above is a picture a friend sent me. I think this is great, and wish more children's sports leagues would incorporate something similar.
Have you ever been to a kid's game and noticed parents acting like their child is in the World Series? It seems to be a common issue in our society for parents (especially dads) to overreact and put WAY too much emphasis on sports. There are a ton of news media stories related to this topic, but those are the extreme problems. You could probably go a a child's baseball game this evening and watch a dad look like an idiot by cussing out an umpire, or yelling at the coach.
Teaching a child to be competitive is great. Teaching a child to be a jerk is not. Don't be the "Sports Dad" that embarrasses your child and family. Instead, remember why you are there- to support your child and help them learn and appreciate team activities and sports. Follow the reminders in the picture above, and you'll be just fine.
